Sophie Klomparens

Sophie competed in Stoa speech and debate for three years, starting her sophomore year of high school. Although she dabbled in interpretive and platform speeches, qualifying for Nationals multiple times in both categories, she discovered her true passion in limited preparation events. From Extemporaneous to Apologetics to Mars Hill Impromptu, Sophie spent hours researching and perfecting her craft. All that hard work led to multiple National awards, including a top 3 finish in Mars Hill Impromptu in 2015. Although the trophies were fun, the most important reward Sophie received from competitive speech was the confidence to articulate truth, even under pressure—a skill that has benefited her immeasurably as a student, citizen, and witness for Christ.
